A lot’s gone on, and I’ve been very bad at posting updates here. Since the last time, I’ve traveled all the way up the Pacific coast to Washington and spent a lot of time in Oregon. I went to Overland Expo PNW, enjoyed camping out for the weekend, and did a bunch of networking. To my surprise, I ended up spontaneously co-presenting a class about what full-time van life is actually like when the presenter had only three months of experience and his intended experienced presenters didn’t make it. It got me thinking that I should get into the loop of doing presentations like this on purpose. One thing led to another, and I’ll be doing exactly that at Overland Expo Mountain West in Loveland, Colorado at the end of August! I’ll be talking about Moto Glamping: Combining Motorcycles and Van Life, as well as giving an overview of Starlink and my experience with Elon Musk’s satellite internet. I’m in Colorado now, and thoroughly enjoying it.
In other news, I’m back in the motorcycle journalism game. I’ve joined the crew of ADVRider, and will be writing a few news stories and a feature each month. My first feature hasn’t been published yet, but it will be about Moto Glamping: Combining Motorcycles and Van Life. Do you see a trend here? I’m looking forward to getting back in the loop of happenings in the motorcycle world.
Finally, I got a promotion at my day job at FIXD. My role has evolved into more of an editing than a writing role, so in June they promoted me to Copy Editor to reflect that. I’m not done writing for them, though. Just today we published 50 Easy DIY Car Repairs You Can Do at Home, something I’ve been working on for the past couple of weeks in between editing other articles.
What’s next? I’ll be in Colorado through the end of August for Overland Expo, then slowly making my way back toward Arizona to spend the winter. I’m still trying to strike a balance between having adventures and having the time to sit down and write about them. I just caught up with them on Smokey Da Van, and I haven’t forgotten about multiple book ideas, either. I’d like to get at least one of them written this winter, really this time. Maybe I’ll even keep up with this website more often, too.
